Massage Therapy:
Massage therapy is the systematized manipulation of soft tissues for the
purpose of normalizing them. Therapists use a variety of physical methods
including applying fixed or movable pressure, holding, or causing movement
to the body. The basic focus of massage therapy is to help the body heal
itself and to increase health and well-being. Although a single massage will
be enjoyable, the effects of massage are cumulative and a course of massage
treatments will bring the most benefits. Regular massage can help to prevent
unnecessary strains and injuries that might otherwise occur due to excess
tension and any resulting structural weaknesses.
Touch is the core ingredient
of massage therapy and also combines science and art. Therapists learn specific
techniques for massage and use their sense of touch to determine the right
amount of pressure to apply to each person and locate areas of tension and
other soft-tissue problems. Touch also conveys a sense of caring, an important
component in the healing relationship.
When muscles are overworked, waste
products such as lactic acid can accumulate in the muscle, causing soreness,
stiffness, and even muscle spasm. Massage improves circulation, which increases
blood flow, bringing fresh oxygen to body tissues. This can assist the elimination
of waste products, speed healing after injury, and enhance recovery from
disease.
Therapeutic massage can be used to promote general well-being and
enhance self-esteem, while boosting the circulatory and immune systems to
benefit blood pressure, circulation, muscle tone, digestion, and skin tone.
It has been incorporated into many health systems, and different massage
techniques have been developed and integrated into various complementary
therapies.

Reflexology:
Reflexology is a technique used to stimulate specific reflex points in the feet, hands and ears that correspond to various organs and glands in the body. Stimulating a reflex point sends messages through neural pathways to the corresponding body part, which helps bring the body back to its normal state.
The many benefits of reflexology include stress reduction, enhanced circulation and increased energy flow.

What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most commonly used medical procedures
in the world. Originating in China more than 2,000 years ago. Acupuncture
began with the discovery that stimulating specific areas on the skin affect
the physiological functioning of the body’s processes. It has evolved
into a scientific system of healing that restores and maintains health by
insertion of needles into acupoints. These acupoints are in very specific
locations and lie on channels of body energy or “Qi” that are
called meridians. The practice of acupuncture is based on the understanding
that a vital energy, referred to as "Qi" (pronounced, "chee"),
flows along channels or meridians throughout our bodies. When this Qi becomes
blocked or does not flow freely, it can cause disharmony or disease. In order
to correct this disharmony, the Qi must be stimulated so that it moves freely
again. In a positive state of health these pathways are balanced one with
another. However, our lives are full of stresses. Stress, whether long-term,
short-term, physical or emotional can easily thrown the pathways of Qi out
of balance, causing undesirable symptoms
Acupuncture uses very fine needles to stimulate specific points located on
the body, in order to influence the Qi of the body. Stimulating acupuncture
points causes both the local area being needled and other, remote areas of
the body to be stimulated.

Onsite Massage:
Massage
is obviously good for you. But it's also good for your company. Relaxed
employees are more productive, creative and less likely to leave the company.
Sick leaves reduce and morale increases, it is a win win…..
Many companies now organize on-site massage for employees. It is used often
as a one-of perk, or as a once a month ‘regular fixture’ in the
business calendar. Now wouldn't you like to work for a company that values
its staff like that?
Spend hours sitting at a desk, driving or in meetings, and tension soon
accumulates in your neck, shoulders and back.
But regular visits from an onsite therapist and you can tackle the symptoms
before they cause you greater problems.
Most absenteeism can be traced to stress-related illnesses. Setting aside
space and time for treatments says to your employees that this is a company
who cares about their health and well-being. On site chair or table massage
is relaxing, therapeutic, and preventative.
All kinds of workers can benefit from massage therapy: particularly those
at risk from Repetitive
Strain Injuries (RSI). RSI is a category of injuries caused by small
repeated movements. These wear on the soft tissues much in the same way overexerting
by lifting heavy object.
From the CEO, through the administrative teams, to the factory workers:
on site massage therapy is more than a perk. It can be a vital component
of your workplace wellness program, and, when performed by a Registered Massage
Therapist, is covered under many extended health care insurance plans and
benefits packages.
For more information on having this service come to your company please
feel free to call our office at (902)679-0999 or contact us using the contact

Pregnancy Massage:
Prenatal massage during pregnancy is therapeutic bodywork, which focuses
on the special needs of the mother-to-be as her body goes through the dramatic
changes of the childbirth experience. Massage therapy improves circulation
and relieves mental and physical fatigue. Pregnancy massage can be done in
different ways. Pregnant women may lie on their sides to be massaged, and
they can actually lie on their bellies, since a specifically designed pillow
has made it possible for expectant moms, no matter how far along they are,
to lie flat on their stomachs. It accomplishes this with a deep center cutout
in the pillow, so that bellies are accommodated and moms-to-be are relaxed
and comfortable.
The popularity of prenatal massage is the result of a want of a higher
level of wellness, especially during pregnancy.
